2026 Annual Event – Cultivating a Sustainable Future
AAUW California’s 7th Virtual Annual Event, Cultivating a Sustainable Future, was held on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
Like the grove of Redwood trees whose intertwined roots support each other, we came together to support and honor our branches and members who stand together to lift up women and girls across California. Our focus was on highlighting successful ways for branches to continue growing into the future, as well as the many achievements we saw this past year.
There was a panel discussion featuring AAUW National’s Katrina Sun Breese, Senior Director of Institutional Advancement, and members from four branches across the nation that have experienced remarkable growth and retention over the past few years. We also heard from our Branch Activity of the Year winners, met our State Named Gift Awardee, and much more! At the end of the program, there was an optional breakout rooms for those who wanted more information about some of the topics presented during the event.
We encouraged watch parties! Members watched the event in their homes and snapped a picture of the group, sent it in, and we highlighted them during the event!
Throughout the past 145 years, AAUW has stood strong like a resilient Redwood grove in the fight for women’s education and civil rights. From the first research project debunking the myth that higher education leads to infertility, to expanding and ensuring equal opportunities in sports and academics via Title IX, to the landmark Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009, AAUW members have been showing up for women and girls across the nation. But, as we all know, there is still much work to be done! We will be discussing sustainable ways to continue your branch’s legacy.
