Tech Trek Virtual Camp
Virtual Tech Trek is the newest week-long camp in AAUW California’s STEM offerings. Developed in response to Covid 19 in 2020, the cloud-based camp served 40 girls in its pilot year (2020) and nearly 600 in its state-wide inaugural year (2021). With a similar hands-on STEM and social learning focus as the campus-based Tech Trek programs, it provides campers remote access to activities, new friends, virtual field trips, and role models to help foster STEM engagement and interest in STEM studies and careers without ever having to leave home (other than to pick up your camp supplies)!

Tech Trek began over twenty years ago, with the campus of Stanford University as its first home. AAUW now operates two Tech Trek camps on this campus: Tech Trek Curie, named after the two-time Nobel prize winner Marie Curie, and Tech Trek Hopper, named after the Navy rear admiral and computer science pioneer Grace Hopper. AAUW branches from the San Francisco Bay Area and Monterey Bay Area send their campers to these two camps.
No residential camp
UC Davis
AAUW Tech Trek was first held at the University of California, Davis, in the summer of 2011. Campers from northern California attend Tech Trek at UC Davis, which is located west of Sacramento. As one of the nation’s top public research universities, with a breadth of academic programs, global leadership in sustainability, and a commitment to addressing society’s needs through innovative research, UC Davis offers campers a variety of on-campus field trips and experiences, including visits to the nationally known School of Veterinary Medicine.
July 17-23
UC San Diego
Tech Trek started in 1999 at UC San Diego. The campus is located in La Jolla, CA on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Campers from all over Southern California and the desert areas along the Arizona-Nevada borders attend camp at UCSD.
No residential camp
UC Santa Barbara
Tech Trek started on the UC Santa Barbara campus in 2005. A second week was added in 2010. Currently there there are (2) 1-week camps each year.
