Tech Trek started at Whittier College in 2001. Campers from the Los Angeles metropolitan area and east attend the Whittier College program.
Whittier emphasizes hands-on learning using laboratory experiences. The atmosphere of the camp is very collaborative with emphasis on helping and learning from each other.
Core classes include anatomy, forensics, chemistry, robotics with coding, and neuroscience. Field trips typically include a visit to a medical school anatomy laboratory, while workshops include financial and college planning, exploring the properties of water and polymers, extracting DNA, learning about the chemical composition of common substances, and meeting some interesting women that have successful careers in STEM fields at Professional Women’s night.
