SPF Launches Website

August 12, 2019

The Special Projects Fund, the 501(c)3 tax-exempt corporation that supports AAUW California projects and AAUW California branch projects and local scholarship programs debuts its own website.

New features include: Information about SPF (including all aspects of how to use SPF for branch projects and scholarships, and Tech Trek and Speech Trek donations), updated forms, listing of current directors, as well as additional contact information.

websiteView the new website HERE.

The new website contains:

  • A listing of current directors and key contacts
  • AAUW California branch projects and scholarships
  • AAUW California state projects
  • Instructions on how to donate
  • Frequently asked questions
  • Strategic plan
  • Application to join the board

AAUW members, friends and families who are planning to make a RMD (Required Minimum Distribution) from their non-Roth IRA to SPF as a 501(c)3 entity should mail their distribution checks to AAUW CA SPF no later than December 1, 2019.  The IRS requires that RMD checks are processed within the fiscal year they are issued.  Receipt by SPF of these checks by the first week of December will enable SPF to make the deposit before the end of the year.

To facilitate the proper credit of RMD checks to SPF we recommend that members have their financial institution issue the check(s) in the name of AAUW CA  SPF, but have them sent to the member for forwarding to SPF.  The donor should then enclose a note designating the project to which the monies are to be credited. If the donor is designating the monies to Tech Trek, it is imperative to indicate the camp and branch to be credited for the donation.

Please refer to the donate section of the new SPF website for further details on RMD checks and designations by clicking HERE.

Note: SPF is an independent corporation, separate from AAUW California.  It serves as a fiduciary agent and pass-through fund, enabling projects to collect tax-deductible donations from individuals and corporations, and from grants and endowments, without having to establish themselves as a separate non-profit entity.
