On June 4, 2024, six members of the AAUW San Jose Branch, led by Susan Karlins, branch Public Policy Chair, attended the Union School District Board Meeting. This was the sixth school board meeting they attended. One of the AAUW members introduced herself as a resident of the district and read the script from the AAUW California School Board Project, including the new information on Title IX. The meeting was attended by Union School District Board members, teachers, principals, and community members. After the meeting, one of the people in attendance thanked the AAUW speaker, sharing that she is close to a transgender child who is struggling.
