On November 8, 2023, thirty members of the Marin branch met to discuss two current and timely issues related to the judicial system. Two distinguished speakers were featured: Stacy Cross, CEO of Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, and Barbara Creed, retired attorney and supreme court specialist.
The group held a discussion about the repercussions of the 2022 Dobbs decision in which The Supreme Court overruled Roe v. Wade, finding that there is no constitutional right to abortion.
They then discussed the makeup of today’s Supreme Court and how the current justices are likely to vote on the issues that AAUW cares about.
The Marin branch members who participated in the discussions were sobered and energized, with many of them feeling inspired to take action.
