Branch Presidents Ginny Hatfield of San Fernando Valley, Sonja Wendt of Santa Clarita, and Chice Davidson of Antelope Valley collaborated on a joint meeting, on January 20, 2024, with County Supervisor Kathryn Barger who represents the 5th District on the LA County Board of Supervisors.
Kathryn epitomizes one of our AAUW Public Policy priorities: Representation of Women in Leadership Roles. She sits on a five member all women board that represents 11 million Southern Californians and administers a budget in excess of $40 billion.
Her career began as an intern for the former County Supervisor for District 5 and she worked her way up to Chief of Staff. In 2016 she ran for the office of her former boss and won. She’s a strong advocate for mental health reform, children’s services and the environment. Keeping up with Kathryn is the name of her newsletter.
