Beach Cities: Membership VP, 2014-16; Co-President, 2016-18; Treasurer, 2021-present. Palos Verdes Peninsula: Tech Trek Branch Treasurer, 2016-present; Tech Trek Branch Coordinator, 2019-present. All dates to the best of my memory and records.

Describe any AAUW California positions and years you served.

Finance Committee, 2019-present; Investment Sub-Committee Chair, 2020-present

Talk about any AAUW California conventions you attended in the last five years.

I attended the virtual Annual Meeting in 2022.

Talk about any pertinent community activities or connections and their corresponding dates.

My primary community activities have been with AAUW. I became interested in AAUW-California when I learned about Tech Trek and have become increasingly involved to support the mission and goals of AAUW to support women and girls gain access to education.

Talk about any AAUW National conventions you have attended.

None.

Describe any AAUW National positions and years you served.

I have not held any AAUW National positions.

Describe your employment/professional experience, including current employment.

*AmericanTours International (inbound tour operator) – 1995-2012. CFO. Responsible for financial, accounting, risk management, banking and human resource functions. Member of Executive Operating Committee. Completed major restructuring and cost reduction program in response to September 11 crisis and 2008 global economic crisis. Responsible for transactions to expand ownership in company.

*Wherehouse Entertainment (music video retailer) – February 1988-1995. CFO (1995). Managed all financial operations including financial reporting, treasury, risk management, investor and supplier relations. Vice President/Controller (1991-1994). Responsible for all accounting operations, loss prevention, budgeting and financial reporting, SEC reporting and tax filings. Member of inventory supply chain reengineering project team. Designed and implemented new financial models for the business plans. Part of leadership team for the acquisition of the company by private equity group. Assistant Controller (1988-1991).

*Ryan McFarland Corporation (systems software developer) – 1985-December 1987. Controller. Managed all the accounting operations. Converted company from a cash to accrual basis accounting system. Implemented the company’s initial in-house computerized accounting system and new purchase order system. Assisted in sale of company.

*Deloitte Haskins & Sells (public accounting firm, now Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu)- 1979-1985. Audit Manager, Senior Staff Accountant, Staff Accountant. Worked on a variety of clients, ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies with extensive SEC reporting requirements. Conducted training in advanced internal accounting control and auditing.

Describe any other special skills or experience.

Education – MBA, UCLA with a concentration in Computers and Information Systems. California State University, Northridge – courses in accounting, audit and business law, as required for a degree in accounting.

Give your reasons for running for this office.

I am committed to the goals and mission of AAUW California and believe my experience on the Finance Committee and Investment Committee along with my education and job experience will allow me to make a contribution to those goals and mission.
