Describe any AAUW National or California positions and years you served.

Director – Communications 2024-2025, Director – Branch
Development Strategic Plan Consultant 2025 – Present

Talk about any AAUW National or California events you attended or participation in peer groups or webinars in the last five years.

Have been attending most National webinars since 2021. Have been attending HUB meetings since inception, every week in the beginning and act as a resource for my branch and now AAUW-CA. Found out about the peer group meetings when I joined the State Board and attended all Communication peer group meetings last year, plus the College University meeting. This year being part of Branch Development I am attending their meetings and actually did my own with Public Policy on the Five-Star program this October. After lots of butterflies I had a wonderful experience and felt so supported by the other directors

Talk about any pertinent community activities or connections and their corresponding dates.

Moved from the suburbs to midtown, house to a high-rise condo and am now active on the HOA board as of January 2025

Describe your employment/professional experience, including current employment.

1965 – 1967 Woolworth’s head evening cashier and undercover union organizer. 1967 – 2000 Pacific Bell from International operator to circuit designer to Yellow Pages sales representative. 1978 promoted to Sales Supervisor, 1979 Staff Supervisor, 1980 Frame Supervisor managing various central offices in the East Bay. Returned to Yellow Pages in 1983 as Sales Manager then
promoted to Branch Office Manager in 1986 when I finished my degree. 1988-1991 Staff Manager of Sales Operations for California and then back to Branch Control Manager in Sacramento from 1/1992 until Ameritech merger in 6/2000. Got a teaching creational and in the process offered a job at American River College Math Department working in a self-pace computer lab for remedial math and algebra eventually supervising classified staff for the department. 1/2002 – 5/2022.

Describe any other special skills or experience.

Trust management for various family members and then paid for husband’s eldest brother and his wife from 12/19 – 7/2025.

Explain how you will incorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion in your plans.

I was born and raised in Berkeley, California and always lived in diverse neighborhoods and attended diverse schools. Joining the California board in 2024 I learned more about DEI in the last 16 months than I have in years. With Charmen’s leadership weaving the importance from our first meeting has been and continues to be a whole new world of understanding. It is a gift that keeps on giving and I hope to continue to grow and share that gift.

Give your reasons for running for this office.

Originally, I ran to become Funds chair, a passion for me as it was for my mother. I ended up in Communications where, even as a fish out of water, I met fabulous members and learned a lot. This year I was given the opportunity to work on the National Strategic Plan and Five-Star program as part of Branch Development. Now I feel like the ugly duckling who found her family. I get to talk to so many branches as well as being part of a great team that makes me feel I am bringing value to what I’m doing.

Are you available to visit branches statewide?

Yes.
