Susan Roughgarden, Public Policy Chair of the Auburn Branch, led a meeting with her branch members on November 13, 2023 to discuss the relationship between public policy and AAUW’s mission and programs.
Participants shared the reasons why they joined AAUW. AAUW California’s Public Policy Priorities (PPP) informational cards were handed out, and participants were divided into four groups, one for each PPP. Each group used the cards and what they know about AAUW’s programs to write key points on poster-sized paper.
A volunteer from each group then explained their concepts to the larger group, and people chimed in with ways that AAUW implements its priorities. Everyone was able to make connections about how Tech Trek, Speech Trek, Gov Trek, and scholarships are directly correlated to AAUW’s mission and public policy priorities.
