This “Girls4STEM” Webinar for high school girls features Christy Tormey, BSME (2014), Design Engineer at Chevron’s Richmond, CA plant. Learn about her educational and career path and how she prevails in a historically male field – mechanical engineering and refinery operations. Christy shares how her education experiences and getting a college internship led to an interesting job right out of college. Learn about her day to day work activities that keep her excited about her career in design engineering and plant operations management. Christy’s favorite part of her day? “Suiting up in a Tyvek and a respirator and climbing through columns and furnaces.” (She has pictures.)
This series is free and open to all high school girls (and boys too) who want to know how one gets from taking science, computer, and math classes to choosing a career in STEM and getting a job after college. This webinar series is presented by AAUW-OML with a grant from the Bettelheim Family Foundation.
