On March 24, 2021, the AAUW California Public Policy Committee, in conjunction with our Advocacy firm MVM Strategy Group, conducted a hugely successful “virtual” Lobby Day, with 111 AAUW California members, representing 63 different branches, participating.
After a rousing kick-of presentation from Assembly Members Eloise Reyes, Assembly Majority Leader, and Cristina Garcia, Chair of the Women’s Caucus, members visited with legislators and/or their staff from 59 legislative districts; in addition, Public Policy co-chairs Kathi Harper and Sue Miller, along with Kathy Van Osten from MVM, visited with two staff members from the Governor’s office.
Members educated legislators and their staff about AAUW, AAUW California, and their individual branches, and lobbied on behalf of our top 3 priority bills: AB 92, SB 62 and SB 373 (information about these bills can be found by clicking on “Bill Tracking”). Members reported that all offices were impressed with what they learned about AAUW, and were very positive about our bills.
