this is a moderated listserv. Messages to be posted to the list must be in plain
text, with no attachments, and must be on topic, and add to the discussion.

AAUW Members Requested to Support the California Women's Agenda project beinging Afghan women to the U.S. for leadership exchange

AAUW California members were invited to help sponsor one of the seven emerging women leaders from Afghanistan who are part of the initiative, "Calling the Circle of Women from the U.S. and Afghanistan." The Women's Intercultural Network (WIN), the Afghan Women's Association International (AWAI based in Fremont, CA), and the Afghan Women's Network (AWN based in Afghanistan) coordinated a unique leadership exchange between emereging women leaders of Afghanistan and U.S. counterpart organizations. This leadership exchange was launched in the Bay Area at the Women's Building in San Francisco on March 7th with over 30 prominent Bay Area organizations represented; AAUW was one of them. Leadership dialogues were held throughout California with the delegation from Afghanistan for two weeks during International Women's Month in March 2004. It cost about $6,000 to fund one Afghan woman leader's travel and provide her project support during this two-week learning exchange.
