Describe your employment/professional experience, including current employment.
For the majority of my professional career, I was employed in public education in the following capacities: secondary school teacher, adult education instructor, adjunct university faculty, adult continuing education administrator, adult continuing education center principal.
In addition, I was employed in the private sector in sales and support for a variety of publishing and educational software companies.
At present, I serve as a tutor, mostly for adult students, primarily in the areas of English language development and educator test preparation. In addition, I am engaged with grant and report writing in public education.

Describe any other special skills or experience.
I earned a doctorate in educational administration from the University of California, Irvine in conjunction with UCLA. My expertise is in the area of educational technology. I learned about AAUW from my research for which “Tech Savvy” was the focus of my literature review for my dissertation. My dissertation focused on the gender gap in STEM related secondary and higher education studies and careers.
Additionally, I am considered to be a tech “nerd” by my peers, a badge that I proudly wear.

I hope to offer my skills, experience, and perspective to making a greater difference in the lives and girls and women at the state level. In particular, I am passionate about STEM education and closing the gender gap in STEM oriented primary, secondary, and higher education and careers.
75-word Goal Statement
My goal is to seek input from AAUW members throughout the state and to collaborate with other State Board Directors to have a positive impact on our organization and to affect public policy in California. I hope that my skills, experience, and perspective will benefit the mission of AAUW, especially in the areas of STEM education, higher education, and careers of girls and women.
