Talk about any AAUW National conventions you have attended.
I first learned about AAUW when I was nominated and eventually selected to
represent Marymount California University at the National Conference for College
Women Student Leaders (NCCWSL) in May 2015. I later attended NCCWSL in May
2017 as a Group Leader.
Describe any AAUW National positions and years you served.
No, I have not served in a National position, but I have served as NCCWSL Project
Manager, working closely with the PVP Branch in coordinating the selection
process at Marymount California University and have traveled to NCCWSL as
MCU Advisor with the attending MCU students. In that capacity, I have interfaced
with National as I organized the trip from California to Washington D.C. for
Describe your employment/professional experience, including current
Upon graduating from Marymount California University in 2016, I was selected to
serve as Interim Coordinator for the Office of Student Life and later promoted to
the Assistant Director role. In this position I oversee the Student Center, plan and
host twenty-five student events per semester, supervise the Coordinator plus ten
to thirty student employees, depending on the year, and more. I am a self-driven
full service event coordinator combining individual and budget management,
leadership development and marketing experience.
Are you available to visit branches statewide?
Describe any other special skills or experience.
I am currently applying for Master of Business Administration programs in
California to further my educational career in hopes of gaining the skills and
knowledge I need to become a successful entrepreneur. Additionally, I plan to
brand and license my event planning service, KH Events, by November 2019.
Give your reasons for running for this office.
Since joining AAUW I have noticed a lack of involvement from young women,
specifically young women of color. California is filled with young women of color
who are breaking boundaries, pursuing higher education and seeking roles where
they can make a long-lasting impression within their prospective industries.
AAUW needs more of these women as members to provide a fresh perspective in
today’s ever changing society and young women need organizations like AAUW
to receive the resources needed to be successful and outstanding job candidates
