Help With Your Programming
The Program Committee exists for one purpose: to add ease, efficiency, relevance, and success to your programming efforts.
One of the strongest ways to promote visibility in your community, retain your membership and recruit new members is through "mission-based programs." What are mission-based programs?" They are the clearest expression of our mission -- advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research.
We provide many resources to help you present strong programs, not only to your members, but to your community as well.
- The newly revised Program Assessment Guide presented at Convention 2010 entitled "Making the Mission Matter." You can find it in the Forms & Documents section under Program HERE.
- The Wall of Fame, that lists successful branch programs that have been recognized at Convention. Find it on the Branch Recognition page HERE.
- The AAUW Program In A Box that features just the right "mission-based programs" that fit, not only the branches but also the community. Find it on the AAUW national website HERE.
- The newly created Branch Program Reference Guide designed to help branches plan programs that have already been successful in other branches.
Branch Program Chairs, plan your mission-based programs and then submit them for recognition at the 2011 Convention. Make The Mission Matter -- Expose Your Program!

- Financial Literacy -- this new State Program is designed to promote economic self-sufficiency, leadership development, career advancement, and technical skill development. This year were beginning $tart $mart with college Junior and Senior students. Learn more HERE.
Suggestions to Incorporate In Branch Programming:
- Diversity -- our AAUW CA Public Policy Action Priorities for 2009-2011 include a focus on diversity. AAUW CA represents those women who may not look, act, or experience life in the same way as you. Hear another's perspective by focusing your event on a diversity issue that affects your community.
- Women's Issues -- educating and advocating for women and girls, especially in regards to health care.
- International Advocacy -- educating and advocating for women and girls in the developing countries. Include at least one internationally-focused event/issue in your program portfolio. Promote international events and watch your membership numbers grow. More information HERE.
- AAUW Funds -- Put a face on the “fellow.” Request a Fellow or grant recipient to talk about their studies or career and the impact the support has had in their lives. Or request a LAF Speaker. Guaranteed to increase funds raised.
