Tech Trek Featured at Women's History Month Event

A celebration of Women's History Month was hosted by the Santa Monica Commission on the Status of Women on March 8. The theme of the event revolved around STEM.

AAUW CA Membership Director, Ginny Hatfield, and Beach Cities Tech Trek Chair, Terry Hays-Horner, represented AAUW CA and provided a display highlighting Tech Trek.

Roseville-South Placer Has Campus Visibility

Roseville-South Placer branch leadership directors, Michele Stark and Sue Orvis, maintain AAUW visibility on campus at Sierra College as they continue their campus connections with the faculty, administrators.

Last fall they presented four $tart $mart workshops in Career Planning and Sociology classrooms.
Sierra College signed a 3-year contract with WAGE (Women Are Getting Even) which entitles the campus to unlimited offerings of $tart $mart. [More]

AAUW Member Reaches 100 Years!

Augusta Knuthe celebrated her 100th birthday on January 25. She currently resides at Atria Senior Living in San Juan Capistrano. She is witty, articulate and owns life experiences that provide insights into a century of people, places and events.

Augusta has always supported education and employment opportunities for women. She joined the AAUW in 1934, right after receiving her bachelor's degree in 1934 from Illinois State University, her mother's undergraduate alma mater, and is still associated with the San Clemente/Capistrano Beach branch.

Fallbrook Celebrates 65th Anniversary!

AAUW Fallbrook celebrated its 65th Anniversary on June 23. Thirty-five members attended a luncheon to honor the branch, which began with twelve members in 1946.

Donna Lilly, State College/University Liaison and former state co- President, installed new officers. Draped in a scarf of the American flag, Donna spoke of Betsy Ross and compared her power and determination to women of our time. She recognized new board members, as well as all members, for the branch's vibrant history and current achievements.

We Want You! We Need You!

Join us in launching a new networking group of AAUW members and prospective members under the age of 50! Come meet like-minded women and learn about the ways that AAUW encourages you to nurture yourself, express yourself and educate yourself!

The Launch Party will take place at the Hilton Hotel, San Jose on Saturday, January 24 from 6-8 pm. Light refreshments will be served!
