Tech Trek Made the TV News!

Posted At : August 1, 2011 8:57 PM

Two Tech Trek camps, Irvine and Stanford Hopper, were featured on the national CBS News recently. While the narrator neglected to mention the AAUW CA connection, plenty of viewers found their way to the Tech Trek website (www.aauw-techtrek.org) for information about our science and math camps and, in one happy case, to download the Donation Form. The video can be watched  from that site too.

Camp directors Amy Harbin, Jan Cook and Marie Wolbach worked with the video team and, in the case of Irvine, allowed them to film the girls in class and on a field trip. CBS looked for science camps for girls after three young women won the top three spots in the recent, first-ever, Google International Science Fair.

Announcing the first-ever Tech Trekker reunion!

Posted At : April 5, 2010 3:30 PM

Please join us for a reunion of all former Tech Trekkers, campers and staff members, on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at the San Ramon Marriott Hotel (near Walnut Creek and Danville) from 1 p.m., when registration begins, and ending at 6 p.m.

This event is totally free but pre-registration is required. Online registration is available at www.aauw-techtrek.org

We have arranged for exciting speakers and will offer breakout sessions for alumnae to mix and mingle, to meet old friends and make new ones, followed by refreshments.

If this event is successful, we will plan a similar event next year in Southern California at the AAUW CA convention for those who can't make it to San Ramon this time.

Please share this news with your Tech Trekker friends. The hotel is located at 2600 Bishop Drive, San Ramon, CA 94583.

See you there!

Tech Trek Update

Tech Trek is growing and improving.

Branch coordinators have their packet and are beginning the process of selecting campers for this summer.

Tech Trek has posted the following new items on the web site: Junior Counselor job description, fundraising ideas, mentoring ideas, Spanish language version of the camper application.  (Look in the Tech Trek section of Forms & Documents.)

The first ever Tech Trek Reunion will be Sunday, May 2 in San Ramon, near Oakland. Tech Trek’s founder, Marie Wolbach, is handling arrangements for this great event. Look for more details in upcoming announcements. In the meantime, let your former Tech Trekkers know about it.

We will have a new camp this summer at UC Irvine. The new directors are busy planning a wonderful experience for 60 girls.

With this 8th camp, we have a need for volunteers. Please see the volunteer form here to apply. Volunteers must be AAUW CA members.
