BULLIES ANONYMOUS

Is your branch planning a Speech Trek contest this year? The deadline to notify Speech Trek of your intent to participate is October 1. Email it to speechtrek@aauw-ca.org.
You can find all the materials you need in the Speech Trek Toolkit. Download it from this website in the Forms & Documents section under Speech Trek HERE.
The Student Packet, which you will give to each student contestant has been recently updated. It can be found in the same section -- click HERE.
Dee Quatraro, AAUW CA Speech Trek Coordinator, reports that the the tool kit for 2011-12 has been posted.
The contest theme for 2011-12 is "BULLYING: so what?"
The tool kit, which contains all the resources a branch needs to participate in the annual Speech Trek contest, can be found on the AAUW CA website, in the Forms & Documents section under Speech Trek (or by clicking HERE).
Three students, by delivering some very impassioned, unique and creative speeches, were selected for the final competition: Montanna Tarkington, a sophomore from Tulare Union High School, sponsored by the Visalia-Sequoia Branch, Emily Shumway, from Summerville High School and sponsored by the Sonora Branch, and Jasmine Khangura, a junior at Franklin High School, sponsored by the Sacramento Branch.
These three students and their chaperones will enjoy an all expense-paid trip to the AAUW CA convention for the fifth annual SPEECH TREK-ELEANOR STEM ALLEN MEMORIAL final competition on April 9, 2011 in Irvine. They will compete for a $1000 first place gift and $500 for second and third place. They will also receive a $50 gift certificate for micro financing with Kiva, an entrepreneurial organization that helps women and girls finance their own businesses.
