AAUW CA Bylaws Amended

Posted At : January 25, 2010 6:24 PM

The AAUW-CA board of directors has amended its bylaws to state that in the event of dissolution the assets will go to an AAUW entity as long as that entity is a non-profit. Previously, the bylaws stated that assets would go to a nonprofit. We were able to make the amendment and still be in conformance with the California Corporation Law.

The latest version of the bylaws have been posted in the Governance section of Forms & Documents and can be accessed by clicking HERE.

Membership promotes retaining members when a branch disbands; this will strengthen the direction we give to branches that choose not to merge with another branch or direct their members to join a specific branch, as funds have benefited non-profits and scholarship funds in their community but not AAUW CA non-profits. Members do want to support Tech Trek and our other state projects, but without a branch tie-in, it is less likely to happen. This is a needed addition to our bylaws.
